4 Affordable Ways To Have Outdoor Summer Fun At Home

With less than a month left of summer for most of us, the opportunities for a some summer fun are soon coming to an end. The costs of summer camps and summer vacations has most likely drained your bank account and buying a shopping cart full of school supplies for your kiddos is just around the corner. In the meantime, your kids are eating you out of house and home, they are telling you they are bored about every 15 minutes of the day, and your patience is running on low. But I have good news…you can get those kids outside with affordable ways to have outdoor summer fun at home.

The first step to getting your kids outside is to take the food outside. Plus, what better way to get your ravenous munchkins out of your kitchen than to turn your grill on? Any time there is summer fun outside there should be grilling involved because nothing says summer like a grilled hot dog. And if your kids are anything like my kids, they have been eating all the junkfood they can get their hands on over summer break. So try switching out your regular hot dog for Lightlife Smartdog. These non-GMO project verified and vegan Smart Dogs are delicious and will leave your kids with no complaints.

So fire up your grill, cook up some Lightlife Smartdogs and put your kids outdoors to enjoy these fun summer activities right in your own backyard.

  1. Have a picnic lunch in the backyard.Throw down a picnic blanket in a nice shady spot in your yard or on patio. Fill a platter with all the goodies your kids like to put on their hot dogs for a fun hot dog bar. Grab any sides like fruit and chips your kids have managed to not devour and let them have at it. Each kid can make their lunch just the way they like and you won’t care if they get up and run around.
  2. Enjoy a water play day. Tell your kids to put on their swimsuits, cover them in sunscreen and kick them outside. If you don’t have a pool…no worries. Grab an inflatable pool, sprinklers and some waterballons. In no time flat, your kiddos will be running across your yard squealing in delight.
  3. Eat dinner under the stars.Sit down at your outdoor table, pop out your folding table and chairs or throw down a picnic blanket. Leave all the dinner table rules and manners for another night and let the kids just be. The whole point is to keep it simple and fun. Bonus for you…less cleaning time in the kitchen.
  4. Go camping in the backyard. I am no fan of camping but backyard camping I can definitely do because it’s basically “glamping.” There are nice clean bathrooms and air conditioning is just steps away. Put up a tent, throw in some sleeping bags and flashlights and you got yourself a slumber party outdoors.

What’s your favorite summer outdoor activity you like to do right in your own backyard?

The opportunities for a some summer fun are soon coming to an end. In the meantime, your kids are eating you out of house and home. But I have good news…you can get those kids outside with affordable ways to have outdoor summer fun at home.
